Un terremoto localizado en León se hace sentir en Asturias

El seísmo que tuvo lugar esta mañana con epicentro en la zona de Castrillo de Cabrera (León) se sintió "con intensidad" en diversas localidades de Galicia, Asturias y de las provincias de Palencia, Zamora y León, y finalmente registró de una magnitud de 3,8 grados en la escala de Richter .

El terremoto se produjo a las 08.18 horas y se situó en la latitud 42.43 grados Norte y longitud 6.47 grados Oeste.

El temblor ha sido "ampliamente sentido" en ciudades como Oviedo, Avilés, Ponferrada, Benavente y León capital.

A primera hora, el Instituto Geográfico midió provisionalmente una magnitud de 4,4 en la escala Richter (de 1 a 9), pero al final la situó en 3,8 tras realizar los "recálculos" correspondientes.

Según el portavoz, el terremoto no ha causado daños ni ha revestido importancia, pero ha sorprendido a los vecinos que viven en la zona del epicentro, porque es un área "sin mucha actividad sísmica".

En el área epicentral el terremoto se sintió con intensidad IV en la escala europea de magnitud (del I al XII).

La mayoría de los terremotos que se registran en España tienen una magnitud inferior a cinco en la escala Richter, añadió el portavoz.

La magnitud calibra la potencia de un seísmo, es decir, la energía liberada en el hipocentro o lugar interior de la corteza terrestre donde se ha originado, mientras que la intensidad informa sobre la percepción que han tenido las personas respecto al temblor.

Habéis sentido algo? Yo ni me enteré, dormía como un lirón, pero mucha gente de por aquí sí que lo sintió. Una pena, sabiendo que son de poca magnitud y que no provocan daños la verdad que tengo ganas de sentir uno conscientemente. Hace unos años sí que lo sentí pero me di cuenta al día siguiente de que había sido un terremoto y no es lo mismo.
