The ISO lead auditor course is a training program designed to provide individuals with the skills and knowledge necessary to become lead auditors for ISO management systems. Candidates will gain the skills and knowledge to perform first, second and third-party audits of organizations against ISO standards. The training covers all aspects of auditing, from planning and conducting audits to reporting on findings and follow-up.

I've always been curious about how much of a lead auditor's work is spent on evaluating processes versus reviewing documentation. A lot of organizations seem to focus heavily on paperwork, but effective audits should also reflect what's actually happening on the ground. I ran into a discussion about audit methodology at https://agsiraq.com/what-is-an-iso-audit/ and it raised a similar point about audits being used to identify improvement opportunities rather than just checking boxes. That distinction seems to make a big difference in how useful the whole system becomes.
